Tournament Hosting Information...

Attention:  Teams travelling to our area for tournaments hosted by Barrie Elites Volleyball Club.  The following is the hotel information you will need for your stay in Barrie:

Travelodge on Bayfield 705-722-4466 ext. 410
(Under the Barrie Elites Volleyball Club block of rooms)

Thank you for your commitment to the Barrie Elites Volleyball Club. Due to your dedication we are consistently able to host the Ontario Volleyball Association's tournaments.   This assists our Club’s growth with positive recognition throughout Ontario and it also helps reduce the fees for our members!

The funding split for each tournament hosted is as follows: 75% of money earned goes to the athletes who work the tournament in the form of a credit towards next season's fees and 25% goes to the club. If you are available to assist with hosting please email Gail Sturdy and I will advise you if we can use your assistance.

I am always looking for scorekeepers and lines and it is a great way to get in your high school volunteer hours and receive benefits from the Barrie Elites!

Feel free to contact Gail Sturdy (705) 456-4927  or gsturdy@rogers.com, if you need anything explained or help with anything.

HOSTING INFO.  I am given the tournaments to host by the OVA, sometimes with as little as one week's notice.  As soon as I get the information, I assign a team to host the tournament.  I look at the OVA tournament schedule and try to assign the tournament so that a team doesn't have to play and/or host two weekends in a row; I try to make it so that teams have at least a week off in between.  I would love to be able to give a home tournament to those that have hosted for the the Elites, but I have no control over the tournaments we are given to host by the OVA.  In a perfect world, if you host a tournament, you'd get a home tournament, but as I have said, I have no control over how the OVA assigns our hosting duties.

I know many of you are upset that your team has hosted and you've had to travel a lot.  I wish I could help in that manner, but as mentioned above, I have no control over how the OVA assigns their tournaments.   I do appreciate the time and support parents and athletes have given to the Barrie Elites Volleyball Club, we couldn't do it without you!!!

Steps in Hosting a Successful Tournament

All members and parents of Barrie Elites Volleyball Club signed an Expectation Agreement which requires them to help host at least two tournaments each year. Team work makes hosting a lot of fun, allows a team to bond in an informal volleyball setting and the athletes get to watch some amazing volleyball!!!

Please click on the links below for specific pages Team Parent(s) will need to host a tournament.  Simply print or save and modify the following files to fit the needs for your team and the age group of the tournament you are hosting ie., 13U tournaments usually need more items for the concession stand than the 17 & 18U tournaments.  Please email me to verify the items you will need parents to sign up for if you are unsure.
