Simcoe County's Premier Volleyball Club
The focus of the Elites organization is on providing the opportunity for athletes to maximize their athletic growth. We have developed over 50 athletes who have gone on to play at various post-secondary institutions in Canada and the US. Some of these athletes have competed at the international level in both indoor and beach events. For the 2021-2022 indoor season, the Elites have 13 girls teams and 6 boys teams competing in the OVA, servicing over 200 athletes from 12U to 18U. Our club also offers camps to further develop athletes, regular clinics, a house league to introduce younger athletes to the sport and beach volleyball training during the summer.

OVA Early Contact Initiative
The OVA's Early Contact initiative is designed for players 15 and under and coaches who are looking to find the most appropriate entry point for volleyball along the OVA pathway.
“ Under the Early Contact rules, players can find which style of play is most comfortable for them through 4v4 and 6v6 rallyball and traditional non-specialized volleyball. This flexibility will now increase developmentally-appropriate competition opportunities for younger players while providing the best experience possible for long term retention and success.”

Director of Development for 2021-2022 Season
The Barrie Elites are pleased to have David Gross continue as our Director of Development for the upcoming 2021-2022 season. David is excited to continue his work from previous seasons in the development of our athletes and coaches.
It has always been part of my DNA to be inquisitive as the "how's and why's" of our sport, both while as an Ontario university athlete and now as a coach. The concept that we must always be open to learning and should never be complacent with our current level of proficiency is, for me, summed up by Leonardo da Vinci's dying words; "ancora imparo" which loosely translates to "I'm still learning." I fully embrace this philosophy and strive to pass it on within our Barrie Elites family.
As a result of my ongoing experiences attending national coaching symposiums, coaching within our annual OVA summer high performance programs, assisting in the directing of summer volleyball camps, frequently in conversation with some of the best volleyball minds across Canada and the United States, and my personal relationship with many of the men's and women's college and university coaches throughout Ontario, I am better prepared to bring the most up-to-date tactical and technical information to our athletes and coaches.
New to this upcoming season will be a "next level athlete identification and development" initiative within our Club framework. We will work with our coaches to begin identifying and preparing our athletes for provincial high-performance programs earlier in the season and at younger ages. We are very excited to get this started.
Lastly, I would stress to parents that everything they want for their child is here at the Elites ... not down the highway. I will do my part to ensure this; as I know there are no shortcuts to success. Ultimately, it is about our athletes receiving quality information, training and feedback and that they are encouraged to work hard.
